Meet Krysha Brooks: bringing stories to life at the Wood

Our lead storyteller, Krysha Brooks, fell in love with storytelling as a young girl visiting her local library. She was mesmerized by the way a story could weave together enchanting characters and magical places in nature—and by how a single book could transport a room full of children somewhere entirely new.

As she grew, so did her curiosity and passion. Krysha began learning folktales and traditions from cultures around the world, discovering that every corner of the globe has its own way of telling a story—and that the oldest tales often speak most directly to a child's imagination. That passion for the art of storytelling has stayed with her ever since.

Today, she brings that same sense of wonder to Wood Memorial Library & Museum, creating original stories and sharing classic children's books each week. Whether she's spinning a tale from memory or opening a favorite picture book, her goal is the same: to help every child in the room discover the spark of their own imagination.
