TJOVI GINEN: An Evening of Haitian Roots Music

In August, the Wood hosted a very special evening featuring the Haitian roots music of Tjovi Ginen. A mainstay in the Northeast music scene, Tjovi Ginen is a vibrant ensemble of seasoned musicians representing their Latin, African, and American culture and history, all supported by Vodou rhythms and Haitian chants. Their lyrics lace each track with reggae, ska, and Jamaican dub poetry, unfolding stories of struggle and triumph, pain and power, and love for all.
