Evergreen Lodge
By Mrs. Dodie HenningEvergreen Lodge No 114, South Windsor, held its first meeting in 1872. Since that time, it met in schools, private homes, theological seminaries and finally their own building. The Lodge building depicted in this square was built in 1916. It is located near the spot where the first church o the east side of the River was erected. To the immediate south of the Lodge is the old cemetary, “God’s Acre.” For over one hundred years, the Evergreen Lodge is proud to have had many prominent citizens of South Windsor as members.
