Collins Homestead

By Mrs. Nancy Horsefield

This old, square Italianate house, was built in 1869 by John Alden Collins, a native and lifelong resident of Wapping.  The contractor was Joseph Clark of East Hartford.  The land upon which this home stands was purchased from Increase Clapp in the year 1844.  The homestead is still occupied by descendants of John A. Collins.
