A colorful fabric artwork depicts a rural countryside scene with houses, trees, a pond, and animals like deer, surrounded by rolling green hills and a blue sky with clouds.

Foster Farm

By Mrs. Virginia Tuchay

Foster Farm is believed to be the oldest family farm under continuous cultivation in South Windsor.  It was founded in 1790 by Thomas Foster.  The present owner, Walter Foster, is the sixth generation to own and cultivate this farm.  Walter’s son and grandson make the seventh and eighth generations to live on this farm.  The large hill on the east side of the farm is frequently referred to as “flax hill” and was the site of many 4th of July celebrations by our early townsfolk.
